How to fix a full disk on your Schokr server

Fix 'No space left on device' errors on Schokr: find what is using disk, clean logs and archives, and raise the server's disk limit.

Updated · 2 min read

When a server reaches its disk limit, it cannot write files. You might see No space left on device, failed saves, failed uploads or a server that will not start. Free space or give the server more disk.

Signs your disk is full

  • The console shows No space left on device or disk quota exceeded.
  • Uploads or archive creation fail in the file manager.
  • Minecraft fails to save chunks, or the world rolls back.
  • npm install or pip install fails partway.
  • The server's disk usage is at its limit.

Find what is using space

Open the file manager and check folder sizes. Common space hogs:

LocationWhat it isSafe to delete?
Archives you created (.zip, .tar.gz)Leftover downloads or uploadsYes, once downloaded or extracted
logs/Old log filesOld ones, yes
crash-reports/Minecraft crash reportsYes
cache/Software cachesUsually, with the server stopped
node_modules/Node.js packagesCan be reinstalled, but needed to run
World foldersMinecraft worldsNo, unless you mean to reset
Old plugin dataFolders from removed pluginsYes, after checking

Free up space

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Delete leftover archives. These are the most common cause.
  3. Delete old logs and crash reports.
  4. Remove folders left behind by plugins or mods you no longer use.
  5. Start the server again.

If you are not sure whether something is safe to delete, take a snapshot first.

Give the server more disk

If the server genuinely needs more space:

  1. Lower disk on another server that does not need it, or
  2. Buy 10 GB disk for 450 credits in the store (added to your team's pool permanently).
  3. Raise this server's disk in its Resources section. See changing resources.

Keep it from filling up again

  • Delete archives right after use. Download first, then delete.
  • Set a world border on Minecraft so the world does not grow forever. This sets a border 10,000 blocks wide, run from the console:
worldborder set 10000
  • Do not upload node_modules or virtual environments. Let the server install dependencies.
  • Rotate your app's logs. If your bot writes its own log file, cap its size or delete old ones.

After a full disk

A full disk while saving can corrupt files. If the world or data looks wrong after freeing space, restore your most recent snapshot.

Still stuck?

Ask in the Schokr Discord with your disk limit and which folders are largest.
