How to whitelist Bedrock players with Floodgate
The normal /whitelist add command can't find Bedrock players. Use Floodgate's fwhitelist command to add Bedrock gamertags to your whitelist.

Use Floodgate's fwhitelist command: fwhitelist add <gamertag>. The vanilla /whitelist add looks names up in Mojang's Java account database, so it cannot find a Bedrock gamertag that has never joined. Floodgate looks up the Xbox account instead and adds the right UUID.
Turn the whitelist on
In server.properties (or with commands):
white-list=true
enforce-whitelist=true
Or in the console:
whitelist on
enforce-whitelist=true kicks online players who are not on the list when the whitelist is reloaded.
Add a Bedrock player
In the server console (no slash needed) or in game as an operator:
fwhitelist add SteveBuilder
Use the player's Xbox gamertag. Floodgate resolves it to their Floodgate UUID and writes it to the normal whitelist.json, so it works with the vanilla whitelist.
To remove someone:
fwhitelist remove SteveBuilder
Java players keep using the normal command:
whitelist add Notch
If fwhitelist cannot find the player
- Check the gamertag spelling, including numbers Xbox may have added (for example
SteveBuilder1234). - The lookup uses GeyserMC's online services. If they are briefly unreachable, try again in a minute.
- Alternative: temporarily turn the whitelist off, let the player join once, then run
whitelist add .SteveBuilderwith the prefixed name while they are online, and turn the whitelist back on. Vanilla can add an online player by name.
Checking the list
whitelist list
Bedrock players show up with their Floodgate prefix, for example .SteveBuilder. You can also open whitelist.json in the file manager; Floodgate UUIDs start with 00000000-0000-0000-.
Linked accounts
If a Bedrock player has linked their account to a Java account, they join as the Java player. Whitelist the Java name with the normal whitelist add command instead. See link Java and Bedrock accounts.
Using a whitelist plugin instead
Some whitelist or access-control plugins store names rather than UUIDs. For those, add the full prefixed name (such as .SteveBuilder). If you change the Floodgate prefix later, you will need to update those entries. See Bedrock names and the Floodgate prefix.
Permissions
fwhitelist requires operator status or the Floodgate whitelist permission. If you use LuckPerms, see LuckPerms permissions for Bedrock players.
