How to add a port allocation for Geyser

Give Geyser its own Bedrock port on Schokr by adding an extra allocation in the Network section and setting it in Geyser's config.yml.

Updated · 2 min read

Add an extra allocation in your server's Network section, note the port number it gives you, and set that number as bedrock.port in Geyser's config.yml. Restart, and Bedrock players connect on that port.

Do you need an extra port?

Often you do not. Java uses TCP and Bedrock uses UDP, so Geyser can share your server's existing port number. See which port do Bedrock players use.

A separate allocation is useful when:

  • Another plugin (such as a voice chat plugin) already uses UDP on your main port.
  • You want a clearly separate Bedrock port to hand out.
  • You run several Geyser instances, for example on more than one server.

Cost

Each server starts with 1 port allocation. Extra allocations cost 25 credits each, paid from your team's credits. With Schokr One, port allocations are unlimited. You can earn credits for free through daily rewards and AFK earnings; see the pricing page.

Steps

  1. Open your server in the Schokr console.
  2. Go to the Network section.
  3. Add a new allocation. Schokr assigns a port number on the same address as your server.
  4. Write down the new port number.
  5. Stop the server.
  6. In the file manager, open plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml.
  7. Set the Bedrock port to the new number:
bedrock:
  address: 0.0.0.0
  port: 25580 # your new allocation's port
  1. If your config has clone-remote-port, make sure it is false, otherwise Geyser ignores the port you set and copies the Java port.
  2. Start the server and watch the console. Geyser should report it is listening on 0.0.0.0 and the new port.

Connecting

Bedrock players use the same server address as Java players, with the new port in the Port field. Java players keep using the original port; nothing changes for them.

Team permissions

Adding allocations is part of the network permission in team roles, and spending credits may require billing or store access depending on how your team owner set up roles. If you cannot add an allocation, ask your team owner to check your role.

Troubleshooting

  • Geyser fails to bind the port: the number in config.yml does not match an allocation on this server, or another plugin already uses it.
  • Console shows Geyser started but nobody can join: double-check the port players typed in, and that you restarted after editing. More fixes are in fix "Unable to connect to world".
