Which port do Bedrock players use? UDP and port 19132

Bedrock Edition connects over UDP, default port 19132. Learn which port to give Geyser on Schokr and why Java and Bedrock can share a number.

Bedrock Edition connects over UDP, and its default port is 19132. On Schokr, Geyser has to listen on a port that is assigned to your server, so in practice you use either your server's existing port or an extra port allocation, not 19132.

Java vs Bedrock ports

On shared hosting you do not get to pick arbitrary ports. Each server starts with one port allocation, and that is the port your Paper server already uses for Java. Anything Geyser listens on must be one of your server's allocations, or players cannot reach it.

Option A: share your server's port

Because Java uses TCP and Bedrock uses UDP, both can use the same port number at the same time without clashing. In plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml:

bedrock:
  address: 0.0.0.0
port: 25571 # replace with your server's port

Some Geyser versions also have clone-remote-port: true, which copies the Java port automatically. Either way, Bedrock players then use the same address and port as Java players.

Pros: free, no extra allocation needed. Cons: none for most servers.

Option B: use a separate allocation

If you prefer a dedicated Bedrock port, add a second allocation in your server's Network section and put that number in bedrock.port. Extra allocations cost 25 credits each, or are unlimited with Schokr One. See add a port allocation for Geyser.

Things that break the Bedrock port

  • Leaving 19132 when it is not yours. Geyser may start fine, but nothing reaches it.
  • Changing address. Keep bedrock.address at 0.0.0.0 so Geyser listens on every interface inside the container.
  • Another plugin using the same UDP port. Some voice chat plugins also listen on UDP. Give each one a different port, or a separate allocation.
  • Forgetting to restart. Port changes need a full server restart.

Telling players the port

Bedrock does not support SRV DNS records, so players must type the port into the Port field when adding the server, even if you use your own domain. See use your own domain for Bedrock players.

Checking it works

After a restart, the console shows Geyser starting on 0.0.0.0 and your chosen port. If Bedrock players still cannot connect, see fix "Unable to connect to world".
