How to connect to your Minecraft Java server

Find your Minecraft server address and port on Schokr, add it in the Multiplayer menu, and fix the most common connection errors.

Updated · 2 min read

To join your server, copy its address (IP or hostname plus port) from the Schokr console, then in Minecraft open Multiplayer, choose Add Server, and paste the full address including the port.

Find your server address

  1. Open your server in the Schokr console.
  2. Find the server's address. It is shown as an IP or hostname followed by a colon and a port, for example 203.0.113.10:25612.
  3. Copy the whole thing, port included.

The port matters. Servers on Schokr usually do not use Minecraft's default port 25565, so if you leave the port off, the game tries 25565 and will not find your server.

Add the server in Minecraft

  1. Launch Minecraft Java Edition with the same version your server runs.
  2. Click Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Give it any name and paste the address into Server Address.
  4. Click Done, then select the server and click Join Server.

For a quick one-time join, Direct Connection works the same way.

Make sure the server is ready

The server only accepts players after it has finished starting. Watch the console for:

[Server thread/INFO]: Done (6.932s)! For help, type "help"

On the first start the world has to generate, which can take a minute or two.

Want a nicer address?

If you own a domain, you can point something like play.example.com at your server with an SRV record, so players do not need to type the port. See use your own domain with an SRV record.
