How to get a Steam Game Server Login Token (GSLT)
Create a GSLT for your CS:GO, TF2 or Garry's Mod server so it can be listed publicly, and add it to your Schokr server's Startup settings.

A Steam Game Server Login Token (GSLT) is a free token from Valve that ties a dedicated server to your Steam account. CS:GO servers need one to accept players over the internet and appear in the server browser. For TF2 and Garry's Mod it's optional but recommended.
Which games need a token
| Game | App ID to use | Token needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Counter-Strike: Global Offensive | 730 | Yes, for public internet play |
| Team Fortress 2 | 440 | Optional, recommended |
| Garry's Mod | 4000 | Optional, recommended |
The App ID is for the game itself, not the dedicated server tool. Using the wrong ID is the most common reason a token doesn't work.
Creating the token
- Sign in at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers with your Steam account.
- Enter the App ID from the table above.
- Add a memo so you remember which server it's for, for example "Schokr TF2 Frankfurt".
- Create the token and copy the long string it shows.
Your Steam account must be in good standing and not limited.
Adding it to your Schokr server
- Open your server in the Schokr console and go to the Startup settings.
- Find the variable for the Steam account token or GSLT.
- Paste the token, with no spaces before or after.
- Restart the server.
The template passes it to the server as sv_setsteamaccount. Don't also put sv_setsteamaccount in server.cfg, because the token must be set on the command line before the server logs in to Steam.
Checking it worked
Watch the console as the server starts. A working token produces a message that the server has connected to Steam and been assigned a Steam ID. If the token is invalid, expired or for the wrong game, the server will log a login failure and, for CS:GO, it may only allow LAN play.
Rules to know
- One token per running server. Using the same token on two servers at once kicks one of them off Steam. Make a separate token for each server.
- Tokens can be revoked. If a token is banned or deleted, the server stops being listed. Generate a new one and update the startup variable.
- Keep it private. Anyone with the token can run a server as you, and a ban on that server can affect your token.
- Regenerate if needed. The same page lets you regenerate or delete a token if it leaks or stops working.
Still stuck?
If the console keeps showing a Steam login failure, double-check the App ID and post the log in the Schokr Discord.
