How to transfer ownership of an Schokr team

The team owner can transfer ownership to another member. The new owner gets full control of the team, including its servers, resource pool, store upgrades and credits.

When to transfer ownership#

• You are stepping back from a community and someone else is taking over.
• A co-admin will be running things day to day and should control billing.
• You want to free one of your 2 team spots without deleting the team's servers.

Before you transfer#

1. Make sure the new owner is already a member. Invite them first if needed, see inviting people to your team.
2. Talk about credits. Credits belong to the team, so they go with it. If some of them are yours to keep, transfer them to your other team first. Credits can be transferred between teams.
3. Take a snapshot of important servers, just in case. See taking a snapshot.
4. Rotate secrets you own personally. If a bot uses your own Discord application token or your personal API keys, replace them with ones the new owner controls.

Transfer ownership#

1. Sign in at console.schokr.gg and switch to the team.
2. Open the team settings.
3. Choose to transfer ownership and pick the member.
4. Confirm.

Ownership transfer is a big step. Double-check you have selected the right person, because you may not be able to undo it yourself afterwards.

After the transfer#

• The new owner controls roles, members, billing and the store.
• Your access depends on the role the new owner gives you. Ask them to set it up if you are staying on as a helper.
• If you are leaving completely, leave the team to free one of your 2 team spots.

What does not move#

• Your account. Your login, profile and linked Discord stay yours.
• Personal secrets in files, such as your bot token, until you replace them.

Troubleshooting#

• The member is not listed: they must have accepted the invite and be a full member of the team.
• You do not see the option: only the current owner can transfer ownership.
